Well, in today's scenario, many villagers migrate to add to the increasing population of the Urban locales. So the culture which has been prevailent in the villages have come down substantially. The migrated villagers try to adopt to the urban trend but are not able to be successful 100%, may be 50%. They want to improve their life styles. But what will happen to the villages when everyone migrate. All that is left back in the today's villages are 50+ aged elderly people who do not want to leave their village. More dynamism and policy making by the government is required in this issue otherwise all the villages will be lost. I recently came across an article that in the whole globe, only 2% is cultivatable and the max part of it is in India. We need to preserve this.

A well written article. Can not dismiss as an urbanite's loud thinking. How do we come out of this syndrome? Villages are absorbing all good things and comforts that the urban life offers and in turn convert the cities into ghettos and slums. I have nothing against the rural population; but then it is high time that they adopt to live in modern times with good civic sense, respect for the system, respect for fellow human beings and their space & time. It can happen with a good leadership and mentoring.
