Very true, having lived with many a 'perfectionist' it is amazing how they strive for it. Somewhere it helps them to overcome inadequacies that are hidden deep inside them, Perfectionism helps them project a perfect image about themselves.

Relationships do get impacted as a Perfectionist sits in judgement over everything you do / say, it is he/ she who is the best and you are constantly under scrutiny.

Personally feel they need help as sooner or later they isolate themselves fromfamily and friends.

Failing forward, it should be the first class taught to pre-schoolers and should be retaught every semester while we are in school. And a refresher course should be welcomed after school as we grow older.

For those that need to really do a 'spring cleaning of their gremlins' go check out http://www.psycho-cybernetics.com/blog Learn to effortlessly change those gremlins.

I appreciate the article very much and especially the writing style, lucid and "perfect".

It is indeed very unfortunate that the fear of failure restricts us from attempting. The pressure from peer, parents, teachers and society all to perform better takes its toll.

The ever increasing competition is further pressurising the erring mortals towards procrastination, panic and frustration.

I hope we prevent this so that it doesn't steal the child's childhood away.
